College Alternatives During a Recession

A college degree is an integral part in having a sustainable income, especially during a recession. There are certain degrees that bolster income better than others, but even the college degrees that do not make the prime cut are a step above a high school diploma.

What if, however, you cannot afford college in today's economy? Several prospective students are turning college down due to a lack of funds. While you can finance your education through grants, loans, and scholarships, sometimes that $40,000/year bill just is not realistic.

This is why online college or community college

  • Pursue your four year degree at an online school so you do not have to worry about additional living or commuting expenses

  • Participate in hybrid learning at your college, where half your classes are online and half are on campus; this will lower your commuting expenses

  • Remember that a college degree is an investment in yourself; it should not be something cut out of the budget! There are alternatives that can make college an affordable option.
